About the event
We hope that you are able to join us for ride #4. The Amesbury to Newburyport loop is always one of our more popular group rides of the season.
We will meet at the Ghost Trail parking lot and follow the Garrison Trail across the Route 95 bridge to Ferry Road in Newburyport. From here we will follow public roads, as we meander to Market Square in Newburyport. This will be our extended stop for the ride. There will be opportunities for ice cream and refreshments, so bring cash or other means of payment, if you plan to indulge. After our rest stop, we will be adding the new section of the Clipper City Trail in Newburyport before riding the trail across the Route 1 Bridge. Here we will connect with the Eastern Marsh Trail and eventually the Ghost Trail back to Rabbit Road. The Ghost Trail is hard packed dirt, but is easy to ride on a hybrid or road bike. There is also a spur of the Eastern Marsh Trail that extends to Seabrook, NH. This adds approximately 5 miles to the total trip.
While the ride is intended for riders of all ages and abilities, it is our thought that the minimum age will be 10 years old.
You as a parent can make the call for your children, but we do ask that all riders, regardless of age, be able to ride a bike without training wheels and be able to maintain the average ride speed posted below. Also, this is one of the more challenging rides due to the fact that we will be utilizing public roads, and riding/walking next to traffic as we cross the Route 1 bridge.
Class I & II pedal assist ebikes are allowed on all Pedalin' Fools group rides, provided they can be operated within the safe perameters of the group, to include the average speed posted below.
Average ride speed: between 12-14 mph.
Trail Surface: mix of paved and hard pack dirt rail trails and public roads.
Helmets are required for all Pedalin' Fools rides.
The ride will be leaving the parking lot promptly at 10:00 AM.
DIRECTIONS:
From Rte 495: Take Exit 119 toward Route 110 Amesburry. Follow Route 110 to the intersection of Rabbit Road, turn left onto Rabbit Road. The trailhead is approximately 1/4 mile on your right, just before the trail crossing sign.
Pedalin' Fools will be following all CDC and State guidelines for small outdoor gatherings with regard to COVID.
IS THIS YOUR FIRST PEDALIN' FOOLS RIDE OF THE SEASON?
You must fill out a ride waiver on an annual basis for yourself and any members of your ride group who are under the age of 18. If this is your first ride of the season, please follow the link to the ride waiver(s).
