About the event

Pack a picnic and join us for the June family bike ride!

This month we will be riding from the trailhead at Cross Point Towers in Lowell, MA to Hart's pond in Chelmsford, MA. This will be our rest stop, where we will enjoy a BYO picnic  Hart's Pond is the Chelmsford town beach so there will be the option for swimming as well.

Date and time: Sunday June 25; 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM

Location: Bruce Freeman Rail Trail; 900 Chelmsford Road Lowell, MA

Distance: 10 - 30 miles*

Average Speed: 10 - 12 mph, 13-15 mph*

Trail Surface:  paved

*For this ride there will the option for folks to continue along the Bruce Freeman Trail, after our stop in Chelmsford, to the terminus in Concord, MA. The total ride distance for this option will be approximately 30 miles, and the average speed will be between 13 -15 mph.

Pedalin' Fools family bike rides are designed to introduce folks to the many rail trail options in the Merrimack Valley, Massachusetts North Shore, and New Hampshire Seacoast. While they are intended to be inclusive, all riders (regardless of age) will need to be able to ride the posted distance and maintain the average group speed. Class I and II ebikes are allowed, provided they can safely be operated within the perameters of the group.

Helmets are required for all Pedalin' Fools group rides.

The ride will be leaving the parking lot promptly at 10:00 AM.

DIRECTIONS:

From Rte 495: Take Exit 89 A,B,C for Lowell Connector/Rte 3.  Follow to Exit 89 B, Rte 3 North/Nashua. As you enter Rte 3 from the ramp STAY IN THE RIGHT HAND LANE and take the immediate exit for Rte 110. Turn right at the end of the exit, and then right into the Cross Point Towers. The trailhead parking lot is in the far corner of the parking lot.

Pedalin' Fools will be following all CDC and State guidelines for small outdoor gatherings with regard to COVID.

IS THIS YOUR FIRST PEDALIN' FOOLS RIDE OF THE SEASON?

You must fill out a ride waiver on an annual basis for yourself and any members of your ride group who are under the age of 18.  If this is your first ride of the season, please follow the link to the ride waiver(s).
